Eating healthily these days not really that difficult. If cooking is not your thing than virtually all supermarkets have huge ranges of healthy balanced meals that are not too heavy on the calories. However the low calorie levels can present a problem if they are too low and this is where the trick on fortification comes in. You treat the purchased meal as a base into which you can add extras into. I personally add a half or whole chicken breast sliced up into most of these ready meals I buy, that way, for the level of exercise I do, three times a week about 1-1.5 hours each session, I am taking in enough calories and protein to sustain me.

Just because a food is regarded as healthy does not always translate directly to the actual product you are buying. You need to do some research to make sure you are making the best choice. To avoid going completely overboard making good choices invokes the 80/20 rule. If you do a reasonable amount of reading and research then you will end up with a product that is 80% the best, getting that extra 20% can frequently mean extensive research, messy conflicting opinion and research outcomes and high cost. If however the product is a centrally important one to your lifestyle then do the groundwork and put the hours in to ensure you are getting the very best.

Here I have a small selection of products that I have personally researched and found to be in that 80%+ band saving you the trouble of hacking over the same area. It may well be that the individual product may not suit your taste or pocket but it is the journey not the destination that's important here. In each case read why the product is considered to be good and that will give you a template to seek out alternatives whilst not wasting your time on unhealthy dead ducks (fed too much white bread).

Happy eating.
