superdry... say what?
Superdry is one of those stores that middle aged men rather avoid making the assumption that it caters pretty much for late teens to mid thirty at a complete push. However a couple of years back Superdry teamed up with Idris Elba and launched the IDRIS range which was basically their premium line. Although the IDRIS range is no longer with us THE FACT is Idris Elba is 44 years old. The tip here is that Superdry remains an excellent shop to purchase very well designed quality fashion for the guy in his mid forties and beyond. There is lots here that has subtle branding that does not intrude on sharp, modern cut clothes for the more sophisticated. Check out ....
A word about fit. Superdry clothes are mainly slim fit which means that your not going to get acres of material blowing around. Now this means you have to be careful when choosing sizes. As a guide I am 40-42" chest and I go for Large in Shirts, T-shirts and Extra large for Pullovers and Coats.

Whats not to like
Very often you can end up spending £20-30 on a t-shirt that looks and feels pretty much the same as a £5 one from Primark. Superdry T-Shirts are an exception, £16.99, nice. Keeping things calmed down I like the Orange Label Vintage Embroidery range with subdued logo's. If you are 40-42" chest then go for Large and it will fit perfectly. These come in a range of colours, including black.

A need to be careful
Superdry coats you've all seen them. Many tend to be high branded and even if they are pretty subtle a 50 year old in a Superdry coat requires careful selection. The key here is toned down branding - so its the style and cut that attracts the eye. Superdry Pea Coats - currently Merchant line usually in their Winter collection are excellent, really lovely material, excellent cut, the only branding is a subtle small leather label on the arm. Else there is the Norwegian Harrington Jacket and trench coats. From their current range check out Fuji Colour Block Hooded (detachable) Jacket above.
PULLOVERS
Jacob Crew
The first thing I ever bought from Superdry was a jumper, the dark blue Jacob Crew, cabled knit design. Now then one word here, the fit is TIGHT. the body, the arms there is no slack so even the X-Large I normally go for it wears snug to say the least. if this is just too much for you then I would recommend going one size above to just loosen things a bit
